Practical experience across the operation
Why Me
I bring more than 40 years of practical experience across engineering, manufacturing, operations, IT, ERP systems, acquisitions, facility projects, process mapping, and project controls.
From the drafting board to the boardroom
Technical Depth and Operational Perspective
I started at a drafting board, moved into AutoCAD doing electrical design, and spent time on the shop floor performing pre-shipment checkouts of electrical controls as an electrical design engineer. At Harper International, that manufacturing background led to IT leadership when the company needed someone who understood its operations to lead the ERP implementation.
Over time, I took on broader responsibilities as Export Compliance Officer and then Quality Manager, making sure equipment left the company meeting the highest internal standards. My work also expanded into operational project management.
Through my experience in operational roles, I have learned how departments depend on one another, what they need to exchange, and where responsibilities can become unclear.
Engineering may know what needs to be built but may not know what purchasing needs to place the order. I understand both sides well enough to ask the questions, bring the right people together, and make sure the work moves from one department to the next. I apply that same approach when coordinating internal teams, outside vendors, and executive leadership.
How I work
Hands-On Project Leadership
I do not manage projects only from a conference room or office. I manage projects where the work is happening, whether that means working with executives, vendors, internal teams, or the team on the shop floor. I get close to the details, ask practical questions, check the work, and do not mind getting my hands dirty when that helps me stay connected to the team and the project.
I can manage a standalone project, such as an ERP implementation or an acquisition, or take responsibility for a series of connected projects from beginning to end.
For example, in Denton, Texas, I managed the work, beginning with due diligence before the acquisition and continuing on site through process mapping, ERP integration, selection of a new facility, vendor coordination, equipment installation, and facility readiness for operational handover.
For confidential projects, I can work directly with ownership or executive leadership, keeping planning and execution within that group until the company is ready to involve others.
Working across the country
Support That Fits Your Project
I have worked with clients across the country, including Buffalo and Tarrytown, New York; Asbury Park and Lebanon, New Jersey; Muncy, Pennsylvania; Kennesaw, Georgia; Kansas City, Missouri; Houston and Denton, Texas; and Long Beach, California.
My assignments have ranged from short visits during an implementation to fully on-site engagements, including a three-year facility build-out in Denton, Texas, and a nearly five-year on-site engagement managing multiple projects for one client in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
Depending on what your project requires, I can provide a few hours of support each week to keep the project moving or a greater time commitment for more involved projects. That can include remote work, regular on-site visits, or an extended on-site assignment.
